Pinja Cottage is the epitome of coziness but is equipped with everything a modern hiker needs. The spacious dining room contains a proper bread oven and we welcome you with a spread of local delicacies. Your evenings will be spiced with a selection of boards games and books. Your morning coffee can become as social as you like—our cottage garden is popular with squirrels. Food for squirrels and our birdhouse is available for guests to use, as well.
Pinja Cottage is just a 10-minute walk from the cable car, on a small plateau, nestled in a grove of spruce trees, nicely removed from the hiking trails. This makes it ideal for peace and quiet and a perfect point of departure for your visit to Velika Planina. This comfy, cozy cottage offers a living room with a large dining table, fireplace, kitchen with a gas stove and oven, a separate toilet and bathroom with a shower, an internal woodshed and two bedrooms, one containing a double bed, the other with twin beds. The upper floor contains a single, large room with four beds: a double and two singles. The cottage is surrounded by spruce trees and unspoiled nature. A large, fenced-in garden contains an idyllic picnic area for summer dining and direct access to snowy activities in winter. Squirrels make regular appearances in our garden and you can be sure they’ll be there to greet you, too. Inside, you’ll find an array of games for children of all ages, including toys, board games and a stash of equipment at your disposal for various activities for all seasons. The cottage is all yours, which means you’ll have complete privacy.
This cottage is suitable for up to 8 adults (or 4 adults and 5 children), making it ideal for two families to share a holiday at one with nature.
The surrounding area offers many opportunities for activities, from a chairlift ride to skiing and sledding, from visiting the Preskar Museum to the Mala and Velika Vetrnica caves, from tasting local delicacies to observing birds, cows, lively anthills and mountain flowers, all of which will fill you with energy during the day and ensure perfect rest and sleep at night.
The fully equipped kitchen includes a gas stove, electric stovetop, refrigerator with freezer, dishes, utensils, cooking supplies, kitchen towels, dinner service and some food basics (coffee, tea, sugar, salt, pepper, oil).
- Starting point: Velika Planina cable car’s base station (location: 46.30533077570222, 14.608958899670634)
- Take the cable car from base station to the top station.
- From the upper gondola station, continue along the road to the right of the concrete stairs leading to the chairlift. Follow the road for about 650m, to the left turn (north).
- Here you leave the main road and turn left onto the cart track, which takes you to the first huts in 300m. Pinja hut is the first hut on your left.
