This high-tech luxury cottage, the newest offering on Velika Planina (as of April 2024), features an exceptional view of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps range and the Gorenjska region. It includes all you could hope for, to enjoy a relaxed, carefree holiday in the mountains, complete with modern tech devices should you wish to access high-speed internet via a tablet of smartphone or even with a connected TV and SONOS audio system. The cottage can be heated or cooled to suit your needs, making it cozy all year round. The fireplace adds warmth or a touch of romance. Inside the cottage you’ll find a kitchen fitted out with all you’ll need, as well as a living room with a large table and a children’s play area. There’s a warm shower with a radiator for heating towels. Additional luxury is offered by a stone-carved wine cellar with an average temperature, year-round, of 3-8 degrees. Plus, there’s a Finnish sauna built into the hut. The cottage can accommodate up to 6 adults in upper floor and additional 4 adults on 2 sofa beds.
The kitchen contains all you’ll need, including an induction stovetop, electric oven with your choice of steam or microwave heating, a refrigerator with freezer, dishes, cooking utensils, kitchen towels, dinner service and basic food supplies (coffee, tea, sugar, salt, pepper, oil).
You can enjoy the spectacular view from your private terrace, which includes two large wooden benches and a table suitable for 10 people and a masonry barbecue grill and grilling equipment for your picnic needs. A pair of sun loungers are also at your disposal.
We’ve provided the best available beds in the cottage. There are two bedrooms in the upper flor with one single and one double bed, which conjure the magic of sleeping in a loft with ambient adjustable colored lighting. In the main room there is a sofa bed that can comfortably sleep two. Games for young and old are available in a play area that can be seen easily from the kitchen.
Pamper yourself in the idyllic Finnish sauna, located inside the cottage. The heat emerges from a electric stove made by the top Finnish manufacturer, Harvia. Additionaly infrared panel enables deep muscle relaxation.
With an average year-round temperature of 3-8 degrees Celsius in the cellar, it’s perfect for wines (Velika Planina’s temperature is 2-7 degrees lower than down in the valley). The cellar is stocked with quality Slovenian wines. The basement also contains a spacious refrigerator for storing food and drinks.
The cottage comes fitted with an iPad for home control, inspection and setup of all devices, review of video content if you need instructions for any of the cottage’s services and devices, a Sony LCD TV, a SONOS sound system, 30M/20M internet connection, two air conditioners, three underfloor heatings, and a heat recovery ventilation system.
The cottage includes a multitude of board games, a book corner, binoculars and a telescope for stargazing. Sleds and snowshoes are available in winter.
You can reach Velika planina only by cable car and chairlift from Kamniška Bistrica valley. Chalet Kati is on 1460 m above sea level, so we recommend you mountaineering equipment – warm clothes and shoes for hiking!
- Starting point: Velika Planina cable car’s base station (location: 46.30533077570222, 14.608958899670634)
- Take the cable car from base station to the top station.
- From the upper gondola station, continue along the road to the right of the concrete stairs leading to the chairlift. Follow the road for about 150m, at the crossroads turn (north) and follow the roads that leads into the steep woods. Follow the road to the end (two turns).
- Luxury chalet Kati is found on your left side at the end of the road.
